Spray Pioneer Museum Preserving the Past for the Future
The Spray Pioneer Museum is owned and operated by the City of Spray. The Museum is housed inside the Spray Baptist Church which was built in 1912. The building was deeded to the City in 1991 and renovations began. In 1933 the Museum was opened to the public. Funding for the renovations was provided by the Oregon Economic Development with lottery funds.

Spray was named for prominent stockman, John Fremont Spray, who settled at the site of Spray in 1900. On May 19, 1900, his wife, Mary Ellen [Breeding] filed the town plat, and on May 31 that same year, the first Post Office was established where John Spray served as the Postmaster. He was quite the entrepreneur, as he built the store, hotel, dancehall, and ferry, and was instrumental in soliciting the funds for the first bridge.
